Wii Fit: A Home Personal Trainer

Wii fit is a space-saving gym with an added benefit. It also provides great entertainment for the whole family.

To use the Nintendo Wii as a personal training system, you will need a wii gaming system and a wii balance board. The wii balance board calibrates using age and weight. This is the same pertinent information a personal trainer would use to design a personal fitness program for you. It also serves as a personal trainer by tracking your calories and allowing you to customize a personal program to help you reach your fitness goals.

The two games fitness programs I like the best are hoola hoop and skiing. I call them games because I was introduced to the both of the first time at a family party and was impressed by the activity level that was involved. Each activity provides a total body workout. I felt just like I was skiing and hoola hooping after the wii corrected my posture and motions (just like a personal trainer). You don't just have to try an extreme sport, they also offer traditional fitness programs such as yoga, strength training and aerobics.

When you are not using the Wii as a personal trainer, the kids can enjoy the gaming system. You can keep them distracted and entertained while you take care of other tasks by letting them play games on the Wii.

I lost 10 pounds in 30 days by using the wii fit. If you decide to try the wii, you will have great results too. I am not just talking about losing weight, but the entertainment value as well. And the compact design of the wii system and wii balance board will fit anywhere.

Audiobooks Make Reading Easy

Do you wish you could catch up on your reading? After kids come along, it seems Mom never has the time to do things she use to enjoy such as reading. I now buy audiobooks and listen to them on my ipod. You might say audioooks are for blind people, but think again. An audiobook allows you the convenience of being able to multi-task which is one of Mom's many specialities. I like read listen to my audiobooks which I clean up or wash dishes.

The first audiobook I listened to was money saving expert Robert Kiyosaki. He is the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad in it you learn how to develop a get rich mindset. His "rich dad" taught him and his best friend Mike that it is important to develop their financial intelligence in order to be rich.

Just to put things into perspective, I enjoyed the book the same as if I had read it. You know how you reread passages in a story to make sure you understand it? You can do the same with an audiobook by rewinding it.

I encourage you to buy audiobooks from now on because they make it easy to stay connected through reading.

Buy and use a foodsaver

Do you throw food in the garbage? I use to. Did you know when you through food in the garbage, you are also throwing your hard earned money in the trash? Do what I did to end this battle. I bought a foodsaver and I use it religiously.

What is a foodsaver? Its a household device which provides a commercial-grade vacuum seal for food. Many times when you go to the grocery store you will find meats packaged in a vacuum seal. A vacuum seal keeps fresh up to five times longer than ordinary food storage bags.

Meat will last from 1-2 weeks stored in a vacuum sealed bag in the refrigerator. On the hand, if the meat is vacuum sealed and stored in the freezer it will last from 2-3 years. Foodsaver storage is not limited to meats, you store vegetables, pasta, rice, etc. It extends the freshness of just about anything. My favorite thing to store in the special foodsaver storage bags is meat I bought in bulk while on sale. It is a shame to catch a sale by using coupons for groceries and let the food spoil so I use a foodsaver.

Check out this foodsaver demonstration. It is easy to use.

Foodsavers should be a staple in every household because it saves you time and money. How much food do you through in the garbage? Be honest with yourself. Then realize, this is money you could be saving.

Teach Your Family How to Cope with Life Changes

How do you deal with changes in your life? Do you go with the flow or resist it, only to learn later that you will still have to adapt to it? Since changes are apart of life whether they are expected or unexpected, it is important to learn how to with life changes. I recently read a book called, "Who Moved My Cheese?. It is a parable about life and dealing with change. I highly recommend this book.

The book is quite effective whether you by the kids, teen or adult version. The 4 characters are 2 mice and 2 littlepeople who are small like mice, but look like people. The story chronicles their journey through a maze to find cheese.

This story is so easy to understand that when I need my son to make changes he is reluctant to make that I remind him of the story and the character I need to be like which is Haw who knows change is hard, but required. He usually straightens up and acts appropiately after one or two reminders.

If you are going through changes in life that you are having difficulty with check out "Who Moved My Cheese?" It should be required reading for the entire family.

Use Online Tutoring

Does homework time frustrate you sometimes? Do you find yourself wondering if you are explaining the homework where your child will understand? Do your dread homework time? Try online tutoring help. This is a great resource because the more comfortable our kids are with computers as learning tools and not just video games the better. Also, online learning provides and effective way for our kids to learn by providing one-on-one sessions.

How it works

Your child interacts one-on-one with a tutor online to get help on any K-12 subject including math, science, english and social studies. You log into the student center using your library card where you will see the various subject available for live homework help along with Proofpoint and SkillsCenter Resource Library. Proof point is a real-time writing center which allows you to interact with tutor real-time to collaborate on writing assignment so that they will develop research and grammar skills. The SkillsCenter Resource Library offers worksheets and videos on various subjects so that students can work independently including standardized test preparation. Click here to get prepare for homework help.

Before your session begins with the tutor, you are prompted to complete a survey to give the tutor preliminary information about your question. This is really helpful because it causes you to have to focus and organize your words to get to the point.

After your session, you will complete a survey to rate the quality of the service you receive and any other feedback.

I like online tutoring because it is a one-on-one service so it is like my child has his own teacher and it shows your child that computers can be used for educational and recreational purposes.

Check with your local library before paying for a tutoring service because some libraries offer the service for free. Even if you had to pay for online tutoring it is well worth it. Kids today are bringing home alot of homework so you must utilize your time wisely. Otherwise, you will stay up until midnight everynight trying complete homework.

Working Mom Time Management Tip – Take a Break

Are you leaving work thinking I got to make it to the day care before I am charged overtime? I do. This is very stressful. Then, you have to pick up your child and make sure their day was okay without skipping a beat. As a working mom, all of these things are done before you have chance to reflect on your day or take a breather.

Working Mom Stress Management Tip: Why take a break?

Before I started taking a break, I use to come home immediately and begin cooking. Then one day a light bulb can on, I always give my son a timed 30 minute break before he begins his homework. Also, he makes sure he gets his full 30 minutes by saying don’t start the clock until I come out of the bathroom or do whatever it is. I decided to take a break too for 30 minutes.

Afterwards I felt refreshed and focused, the rest of the night I felt relaxed and not so overwhelmed with trying to get homework complete, dinner ready or prepared for the next day. Even if you don’t have 30 minutes, take a break for 3 minutes it will make a difference. I call a 3 minute break a 3 minute vacation, it is where you think of a happy time and place for 3 minutes without interruptions.

Working Mom Stress Relief Tip: How to take a break?

To take a 3 minute vacation all you need is a timer and a quiet place away from everyone. Then, let everyone know you need peace and quiet for 3 minutes without any interruptions and that the timer going off will signify stopping time. Make sure everyone knows what you mean; even a two year can understand to sit down or be quiet until the timer goes off. A helpful tip: leave the time where the kids can see it, but not touch it or tell them not to touch depending on your child’s age. You might want to have 2 timers on hand: 1 you leave where the kids can see it and one you have will you so everyone knows when time is up.

All moms feel guilty about taking a break, but all moms need one especially working moms. This will help you all of your many jobs much better. It will lead to reduced stress because you won’t feel like you have to do everything at once. You will think more clearly and take care of important things first.

Working Moms Work Life Balance Tip: Develop Healthy Eating Habits as a Family

With overweight and obesity rates being about 30% for kids and adults, it is time to re-evaluate our diets. Sure I know you are saying that I am too busy to cook dinner every night, fast-food is much easier and convenient. Even Michelle Obama professes the same dilemma while balancing the work life challenges, but she encourages us to do better by feeding out families more fruits and vegetables.

Thanks to the internet we have choices our moms could never dream of such as online grocery shopping and delivery. You can actually order your groceries on the internet from the comfort of your home, and then have the groceries delivered. With this type of convenience you are saving time, stress and money. It can be difficult navigating the grocery store isle with kids who want everything in sight and let’s not mention the long lines to checkout. All of this will be null and void if you simply make your grocery list and sit down by the computer to order. You can even use grocery store or manufacturer coupons. Click here to sign up for online grocery shopping and receive $10 in free groceries.

The convenience of online grocery shopping can help you get your family on track to healthy eating because the time you save by not going to the grocery store can be used to plan meals. By planning your meals you will know exactly what your family is eating. This is not something you can control by going to a fast-food restaurant.

To make meal planning easier, use a cookbook with a quick, easy and healthy meal theme. Why? It takes the guesswork out of meal planning by giving your recipes that are healthy and easy to make. This also makes putting a grocery list together much easier.

Here is a list of some of the quick, easy and healthy themed cookbooks that I like:

1. Rachel Ray’s 30-minute meals cookbook – Rachel Ray has mastered the art of 30-minute meals. She has several 30 minute meals themed cookbooks. They are designed to make cooking at home fun. Click here to learn more about Rachel Ray’s 30-minute meals cookbooks.

2. Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade Cooking – Sandra Lee’s cookbooks help you get quick and healthy meals on the table by using the 70/30 rule. The 70/ 30 rule is 70% of the meal is homecooked while the other 30% is store-prepared. The meals are tasty healthy and light. My favorite is Semi-Homemade Cooking Made Light. Click here to learn more about Sandra Lee’s Semi-Homemade Cooking.

3. Biggest Loser Cookbooks – The biggest loser cookbooks are based on the strategies to eat healthy as told to the contestants of the popular NBC show the Biggest Loser. My favorite is the Biggest Loser Family Cookbook: Budget Friendly Meals Your Whole Family Will Love because it shows you how to save money while eating healthy and makes everything convenient. Click here to learn more about the Biggest Loser Cookbook series.

By combining the convenience of online grocery shopping and using meal planning tips to promote a healthy lifestyle, you will help your family develop healthy eating habits.

Working Mom Time Management Tip: Use Online Grocery Shopping

Are you too busy to go grocery shopping? Do you wish you didn’t have to go to the grocery store? Try online grocery shopping and order your groceries from the comfort of your home at your convenience.

Let’s face it. Working moms have so much to do in such a little time. Therefore, anything you can do to save time on a mundane task is important. It will not only save time, but it will reduce your stress.

Shopping online reduces the amount of time it takes to go grocery shopping. Simply order your groceries and wait for the delivery time and date you set to come. By not going to the grocery store yourself you save time and money because you are not going to the store. The time you work spend going to the store and waiting in line as well as the money you will spend to get there such as gas. This is the money you can use to pay the fee for the delivery. Online grocery shopping is the same as going to the grocery store yourself without waiting in line. Simply prepare your grocery list, gather your coupons, place your order and reserve your delivery time slot at your computer in the comfort of your home.

Online grocery shopping fits conveniently into a working moms busy schedule because you can order anytime that is convenient for you with the same options such as shopping with grocery coupons and loyalty/ rewards cards.

When I first used online grocery shopping, I didn’t know what to expect. I found out Stop & Shop’s online service is offered through peapod.com so I signed up with them. Click here to sign up for online grocery shopping. You will receive $10 in free groceries just for trying the service. Then, click here to download coupons for groceries. My online grocery shopping experience was great. When the delivery person arrived at my door with the grocery during the specified time, the experience was priceless because I simply accepted delivery of the groceries I ordered online from my home. No trip to the grocery store and no hassle. You definitely should try online grocery shopping because you save time and reduce stress.
